What Is the Minimum Score to Pass JLPT N3?

The minimum score to pass JLPT N3 is 95 out of 180, and at least 19 out of 60 in every section. You must clear both to pass:

A student scoring 18 in Language Knowledge, 36 in Reading, and 50 in Listening reaches 104 total, well above 95, yet still fails because one section sits below 19. Skipping a full section means automatic failure. 

What Is a Good JLPT N3 Score?

A good JLPT N3 score starts at the 95-point pass mark, but the target depends on your goal. The certificate only needs a pass. 

For scholarships or jobs, a total of 120 or more with A grades in every section is considered strong at N3 and above.
