Principal of Nihongo Online School
In September 2019, he founded "Nihongo Online School". Since then, has been teaching Japanese online lessons, with a total of over 1,000 students.
He has designed an individualized curriculum based on student’s needs and study goal. And is conscious of making the classes speech-centered in order to improve students’ speaking skills.
The school asks students to submit homework assignments worth 2 hours per lesson to improve faster. By supporting students with these features, students are able to efficiently improve Japanese language skills.
Q1.Could you tell us what inspired you to start learning Japanese? Also, what challenges did you face in studying Japanese before joining Nihongo Online School?

Well I took Japanese in high school over 20 years ago and I need to start from scratch again. I tried using apps, but the ability to be one-on-one with a teacher was a game changer for my learning. I intend on teaching in Japan so I needed a focused curriculum that allowed me to achieve my goals, and Nihongo Online School is helping me achieve them.
Q2. There are many online Japanese schools available. What made you decide to study with Nihongo Online School?

The price point and the ability to have a tutor was the selling point for me. I did my research before committing and I have not been disappointed. My teacher is fantastic, and I’m learning a lot. More than I would be able to if I was left to study and do it all by myself.
Q3.Could you share your experience with our online lessons? For example, how do you feel about the lessons, your interactions with teachers, the learning materials, and the overall lesson flow?

My instructor has nearly 20 years of experience teaching Japanese, so the quality of our sessions is phenomenal. The book we work with is one of the most highly recommended books I found online, and she of course has supplemental worksheets that go along with the book, so I’m able to practice and learn even more.

There was some confusion of what materials I would be working with. I thought it would be the materials you find on the website, but I was surprised to learn I was expected to buy 2 books. This was never discussed beforehand, so the first week, I never had any of the materials I needed. I just wish there was a better explanation of course materials, and what a students gets from this. A calendar listing when our end date is, along with information on getting a certificate, would be good.
