From Cebu to Japan: Ryan’s Story of Learning Japanese Online with Teacher YUKI

Q1.Could you tell us what inspired you to start learning Japanese? Also, what challenges did you face in studying Japanese before joining Nihongo Online School?

日本語をどうして勉強しようと思いましたか?また、これまでの日本語学習における悩みについ て教えてください。 

Japan has one of the strongest economies in the world, and as a Graduate of the Business Administration Major in Marketing Management, I do understand that aspect. As a result, many international companies value employees who can communicate in Japanese. Furthermore, learning Japanese can open doors to job opportunities, especially in my field—the dynamic world of business. 

When considering challenges such as lack of direct interaction, limited practice opportunities, and difficulty staying motivated, it becomes clear that learning a language presents unique obstacles. Consequently, overcoming these—especially those related to communication or motivation—requires discipline, active participation, and online forums to help progress in learning the language. 

Q2. There are many online Japanese schools available. What made you decide to study with Nihongo Online School?

There are several reasons why I decided to study Japanese with NIhongo Online School instead of enrolling in other language institutions. The main factors that influenced my decision were the student support system, flexible learning environment, and the school’s teaching quality. 

Nihongo Online School is known for its highly qualified and experienced Japanese teachers. They’ve kept the timetable flexible by allowing students to choose their own class times based on their availability, making it more suitable for those with demanding schedules. Finally, it gives a more comprehensive and pleasurable learning experience that aligns with my objectives and learning style. 

Q3.Could you share your experience with our online lessons? For example, how do you feel about the lessons, your interactions with teachers, the learning materials, and the overall lesson flow?

The teacher planned the classes really well and gave you assignments or quizzes that matched your understanding of each topic. What I’m trying to express is that it may not be difficult to understand or comprehend while answering the assignments or quizzes. 

Divided into Hiragana and Katakana, it makes my learning method easier. I appreciate Nihongo Online School for creating professional teachers and hope that they will continue to meet the demands of prospective students interested in learning Japanese as a secondary/foreign language.

レッスンとクラス体験を向上していくために質問やご要望があれば、お願いします。 

I wish they can give students additional assignments and tests pertinent to each lesson so that not just writing but also orally and speaking are strengthened, as this links with a student’s fast-paced learning. Furthermore, it will assist pupils better understand the Japanese writing system.
