Director: Kotaro Muramoto
Principal of Nihongo Online School
In September 2019, he founded "Nihongo Online School". Since then, has been teaching Japanese online lessons, with a total of over 1,000 students.
He has designed an individualized curriculum based on student’s needs and study goal. And is conscious of making the classes speech-centered in order to improve students’ speaking skills.
The school asks students to submit homework assignments worth 2 hours per lesson to improve faster. By supporting students with these features, students are able to efficiently improve Japanese language skills.

Q1. Could you tell us the reason you start studying Japanese ? And what problem, issues did you have on studying Japanese before join Nihongo Online School?

I started studying Japanese because I had good experiences when I visited Japan, wanted to immerse myself deeper into Japanese culture, and wanted to have a foreign language in which to express myself. Without formal schooling, however, I had no one to answer my questions, explain lessons to me, or practice my Japanese speaking and composition with.

Q2. Could you tell us what made you decide to study Japanese with us compared to other Japanese school teaching online ?

I wanted to make the most out of my online Japanese schooling, so I looked for a school with a program that would help me fulfil the 150-hour formal prior-studies requirement for Japanese language schools in Japan. This would help me in case I wanted to apply to a Japanese language school, but I was also assured that studying for 150 hours would help me reach at least the first level of Japanese language proficiency (N5). I also liked how Nihongo Online School’s classes were individual, so I could receive focused instruction.

Q3. Could you tell us about your lesson experience, how to proceed lessons with teachers, materials and so on?

I appreciated how the pacing of our lessons adjusted to my learning capacity, and I liked the kinds of exercises the school’s original workbooks and used textbooks had. I also enjoyed having casual conversations with my teacher, where I applied the things I had just learned. My teacher was also very patient with me and tireless in her constructively correcting me.
