Director: Kotaro Muramoto
Principal of Nihongo Online School
In September 2019, he founded "Nihongo Online School". Since then, has been teaching Japanese online lessons, with a total of over 1,000 students.
He has designed an individualized curriculum based on student’s needs and study goal. And is conscious of making the classes speech-centered in order to improve students’ speaking skills.
The school asks students to submit homework assignments worth 2 hours per lesson to improve faster. By supporting students with these features, students are able to efficiently improve Japanese language skills.

Q1. What prompted you to start studying Japanese, and what challenges did you face in your Japanese studies before enrolling in Nihongo Online School?

I currently live in Toronto, Canada, but I am thinking about going to Japan to work. To achieve this, I want to improve my Japanese to a business-level conversation proficiency, so I have decided to study Japanese. My first goal is to obtain the N2 certification.

Q2. What made you decide to study Japanese at Nihongo Online School?

I wanted to assess my current Japanese level, and the Japanese online school suggested that I take an online half mock test for the JLPT in addition to evaluating my conversation skills. They also provide comprehensive learning support, such as creating a structured study plan, which made me feel confident that I could improve my Japanese skills. That’s why I chose the Japanese online school.

Q3. Please tell us about your lessons.

To review N5-level material, I started from Lesson 19 of the “Minna no Nihongo” textbook. Additionally, I took one-on-one lessons with a dedicated instructor, repeatedly reviewing and practicing grammar points I found difficult.

Q4. What are your thoughts on taking lessons at a Japanese online school?

At first, I enrolled in a 50-lesson course for six months. However, as my Japanese skills steadily improved, I decided to continue taking lessons. In the end, I studied for two years, completing a total of 200 lessons. I started at the N5 level and was able to progress through the curriculum up to the N3 level.
