2024/04/19

Hello, this is Muramoto, the representative. This time, a consultant from China who works at an IT company in Kanagawa Prefecture requested online Japanese lessons with the goal of being able to explain the company and introduce the products he is responsible for. I have summarized what points I paid attention to during the lessons to achieve his goal, so I hope this will be of some help.

He has designed an individualized curriculum based on the Japanese required for the students’ work, and is conscious of making the classes speech-centered in order to train the students’ speaking skills. The school has received favorable feedback from foreign students involved in sales activities that their presentation skills have improved. We try to make the lessons mainly focused on students’ speech, with students speaking the main part, the instructor giving feedback pointers, and the students correcting the mistakes.

We reviewed, 1. Summary 2. Study plan  3. Improvement 4. Feedback from student

●Summary

・ IT industry IT implementation support consultant/Salesforce implementation support team
・ One-on-one / Business Conversation
・ Duration: Approximately 4 months / Lessons twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8pm) + homework

“There is no problem with reading. But I feel anxious because I sometimes cannot understand what the other person really wants to say. I want to improve my skills in writing documents (emails with customers).”

“I don’t think there is a problem with listening when communicating with people at work, but I sometimes have trouble understanding things like meetings and small talk, so I would like to increase my vocabulary. Even in conversations with customers, I sometimes have difficulty expressing difficult and complex things, so I would like to increase my native vocabulary to better communicate. I want to be able to effectively introduce my company and promote my services.”

●Learning plan

Learning Objective 1: Reduce vocabulary and grammar mistakes (reading, writing, conversation) (Teacher Azuma): 20 lessons

While improving your Japanese knowledge (vocabulary and grammar) to more accurately develop your abilities in business situations (conversations and emails), you will learn expressions and role-play to further develop your communication skills using Japanese.
・Learn Business Japanese through advanced role-play https://www.3anet.co.jp/np/books/4016 /

Learning Goal 2: Be able to smoothly explain the company introduction and the products in charge (Teacher Muramoto): 10 lessons

While confirming the level of Japanese language proficiency, students will practice for around 10 lessons in the second half so that they can effectively promote their company information and the products they are in charge of.

Text book-・Company overview pamphlet, company introduction materials/Proposal materials for products and projects in charge

Implementation content-

・Create a draft of the content of the product and company introduction presentation, have the draft read out loud, and check whether the pronunciation and expressions are appropriate.

・Use screen sharing to give a presentation, ask questions, and practice repeatedly so that you can give appropriate explanations and answers to the questions.

・Brush up presentation materials and manuscripts based on feedback

Achievement

Points for improvement :

– When asked in-depth questions, he used to give long answers without narrowing down the points, but by being more conscious of the order of explanations, his explanations have gradually become easier to understand.

– Be aware of the order of explanations. start to talk with general outline, such as “There are three points. The first one is…” and then explain individual specific details.

– What do you want to convey the most on each presentation page? By getting into the habit of summarizing the content, it became easier to get my point across clearly.

-He can notice the mistakes by own and correct them. By constantly pointing out the mistakes, the number of mistakes has decreased. Although it still happens, have gotten into the habit of noticing own mistakes and correcting them.

For Future Learning:
Regularly review what you have learned so that you do not forget what you have learned. During business negotiations with customers for new proposals, review and brush up on points that you were not able to explain well or areas that you felt that the customer did not fully understand.
