Hi, this is the representative, Muramoto of Nihongo Online School. Today, we introduce study plan for one of our students living in Yokohama, Japan who completed studying business Japanese course. Congratulations!

I have received a request for online Japanese language lessons from a Chinese engineer working at an IT company in Kanagawa Prefecture. The engineer expressed a desire to reach a level where they can have meetings with clients and be able to provide explanations about the company and introduce their products. I have summarized what points I paid attention to in order to achieve this goal, so I hope it will be helpful even a little.

He has designed an individualized curriculum based on the Japanese required for the students’ work, and is conscious of making the classes speech-centered in order to train the students’ speaking skills. Learning Goal 2: Introduce your company and explain your products smoothly (Teacher Muramoto): 10 lessons
Practice about 10 lessons in the latter half of the lesson so that you can effectively appeal your company profile and products.
・ Company overview brochure, company introduction materials
・ Products in charge, project proposal materials 

Contents:
・ Create a manuscript of the product and company introduction presentation content, have the manuscript read aloud, and check whether it is pronunciation and appropriate expression
・ Repeated practice so that you can explain and answer questions appropriately while having a presentation by screen sharing
・ Brush up presentation materials and manuscripts based on feedback

Achievement


Points for improvement :
・ As sales skills, he have gradually become able to practice by incorporating effective “communication methods” and explanations that are easy to convey to the other party.
・ Clarify the message he want to convey on each page and emphasize the unique benefits of the product in charge
・ He have become good at making it easy to explain products for technical personnel even who are not familiar with the automatic test field
・ Similarity, comparative explanation with competing services, explanation practice of introduction effect etc. are planned in the future

For Future Learning:
Learn for the future and review regularly so as not to forget the established content. → It is good to make a presentation to other employees, such as regularly taking recorded videos and comparing them. In the future, new proposals for the products in charge will increase, so by reviewing whether you can explain clearly to the questions actually received from customers, you can obtain skills that can be used in more practical ways. Q. What is your main job at the moment?
My main job at the moment is the design and development of new products for IT systems.


Q. Before attending the course, please tell us about the challenges and problems you felt.
I am in charge of developing our own products, but I used to work mainly in-house and have few opportunities to use Japanese.I can read and write Japanese somehow, but I couldn’t speak Japanese good enough to talk to clients.


Q. What goals did you set for the course?
I want to challenge myself to work outside the company, such as proposing products to customers, supporting introductions, and supporting, so my goal is to be able to meet with customers, explain products, and make suggestions.


Q. How was the curriculum and learning content?
I think the curriculum and learning content are very good for me.
Specific points: The learning content can be taught according to the individual’s Japanese level and goal. I can study not only simple Japanese but also Japanese used in actual work. I can strengthen what I studied with homework.

Q. How was the teacher?
About Teacher Azuma: Azuma-sensei was very kind and helped me to gain confidence in my Japanese in about three months, even though I can’t speak much at first.During the lesson, she quickly found problems with Japanese grammar and pronunciation and taught me how to improve them.Thank you very much.


About Teacher Muramoto: In the last month, he taught me how to explain our company’s products and company.I felt that Mr. Muramoto was very professional, for example: he made an effective plan to achieve the goal in one month.When explaining the product, he checked and corrected all the pronunciation and appearance. In addition, he taught me how to do product sales. I was able to explain the product and company fluently in one month. Thank you very much, Mr. Muramoto.

Q. You took the course for about 4 months this time, but what has improved compared to before the course? Have you been able to do it?

Before taking the course, I had been self-taught in Japanese for four years, but I was always worried that I could not speak Japanese very well. After taking the course for about four months, I gained confidence in speaking Japanese. Furthermore, in the past, I could not have meetings and proposals with customers because I could not speak Japanese well. Now, I can gradually explain products and answer questions at proposal meetings with customers.
