You learn how to explain “きかんのいいかた=How to say periods of time in Japanese.
✅ きかんのいいかた How to say periods of time
The following figure are used to express periods of time.
◯ねん+かん=periods of year
◯かげつ+かん＝periods of month
◯しゅう+かん=periods of week
◯にち(か)+かん＝periods of date
◯じ+かん=periods of hour
◯ふん+かん＝periods of minute

Q:なんねんかん、にほんにすんでいますか？
Nannnennkan, nihonni sundeimasuka?
How many years have you lived in Japan?
A:わたしは、にほんに3ねんかん すんでいます。
Watashiwa, nihonni sannenkan sundeimasu.
I have lived in Japan for 3 years.
Q:いちねんは なんかげつかん ありますか？
Ichinenwa, nankagetsukan arimasuka?
How many month are in a year?
A:いちねんは、１２かげつかん です。
Ichinenwa, juunikagetsukan desu.
There are 12 month in a year.

When you add ”かん” after ◯しゅう、◯か（にち）, it indicate periods of time.
Q:アメリカにはなんしゅうかん りょこうしますか？
Americaniwa, nanshuukan ryokou simasuka?
How many weeks do you travel to U.S.?
A: 2しゅうかん りょこうします。
Nishuukan ryokou simasu.
I will travel for 2weeks.
Q:いちねんは、なんにちかん ありますか？
Ichinenwa, nannichikan arimasuka?
How many days are in a year?
A:いちねんは、３６５にちかん あります。
Ichinenwa, sanbyaku rokujuu go nichikan arimasu.
There are 365 days in a year.
Below figure indicate how to say periods of hour and minute
when you add ”かん” after ◯じ、◯ふん, it indicate periods of time.
Q:きょうは、なんじかん べんきょうしましたか？
Kyouwa, nanjikan benkyou simasitaka?
How many hours did you study today?
A:きょうは、１じかん べんきょうをしました。
Kyouwa, ichijikan benkyou simasita.
I studied for 1hour today.
Q:テストは、なんふんかん ですか？
Tesutowa, nanfunkan desuka?
How many minute is the test?
A:テストは、50ふんかん です。
Tesutowa, gojuu funkan desu.
It is 50minute.
■きかん+に◯かい(回) ◯times in one period
It represents frequency in one period
わたしは、1ねんかんに、2かいインドへいきます。
Watashiwa, ichinenkanni, nikai indo heikimasu.
I visit India 2 times in a year.
